Events & Project Assistant Apprentice with Amplified Business Content

“I worked in radio production for four years; in the production of music videos, short films and spots, and I was a volunteer at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in the Media Department. I’m very excited about this opportunity. Fifteen months of experience is something you can’t find everywhere, especially in the Media. I reckon this is going to be wonderful for my career!”

“After completing two years in college, I decided that I did not want to attend University as no courses applied to me. I spoke to my careers advisor who helped me look for an Apprenticeship, which would allow me to learn on the job. I cannot wait to start the Apprenticeship programme and expand my skills and knowledge. I am very happy with the process and I hope that I will achieve a full time job that I enjoy by the end of the process.”

Communications Assistant Apprentice with Equinox

“I had been studying in college, with the initial intention of going to university in mind, but after three years of studying I could not bring myself to spend years in university. An apprenticeship helps give you practical experience, a much higher chance of employment afterwards, and you get paid!”

Apprentice Media Executive with Golley Slater

“After many years of sitting in a classroom, I longed for actual work experience. I was then advised by my careers advisor to think about looking for an apprenticeship. I cannot wait to start working in Golley Slater, and I hope to gain a lot of experience and learn more about the various roles involved in a marketing agency. I really hope that having real experience in the working world will improve my confidence and reassure me of my abilities.”

Marketing & Admin Assistant Apprentice with Introbiz

“I am very excited to start this and see what it entails. It’s a completely new experience for me but a great opportunity to learn a lot and get great experience. I’m lucky that Sgil Cymru helped me because without them I don’t think I would’ve been able to get a role that I wanted. I think it’s going to be really enjoyable.”

jaimieJaimie Warburton

Apprentice Web Developer with IT Pie

“I was laid off from my most recent job and decided to take the plunge into doing freelance web design work. I did a few websites for local businesses and expanded my portfolio in order to begin applying for entry level web developer vacancies. It was a rare opportunity for someone my age as most apprenticeships limit the applicants’ maximum age to twenty-four, the opportunity isn’t like any other available in Wales. The team have been welcoming and friendly and bend over backwards to help you.”

Keep up-to-date with the apprentices’ progress over the next fifteen months by following Sgil Cymru on Facebook and Twitter. You can find out how you could employ an apprentice here, or if you’re interested in becoming an apprentice, take a look at our current vacancies.
