PRODUCTION MANAGER 2016

Media professionals joined us at Pinewood Studio Wales in Cardiff for two weeks of intensive training, including

  • Practical Workshops
  • Discussions with Experienced Industry Professionals
  • Training in Movie Magic Scheduling and Budgeting

The main course tutor was Sue Jeffries, a film and television producer and director with over thirty five years’ experience in production grades.  Sue worked mainly in the field of drama, children’s and entertainment;  having started as a Production Assistant, Sue worked extensively as a Script Supervisor, Production Manager and Line Producer, before settling into the role of Series Producer.  Some of her credits include Executive Producer on Bright Lights (digital short), and Co-Producer on The British Guide to Showing Off, a feature length documentary funded by Film London and Film Agency for Wales.  As Sue guides the participants through the course, she will be joined by a number of experienced film PMs and Line Producers who will share of their expert knowledge.

Paul Sarony
Paul Sarony is a hugely experienced Line Producer currently filming SHOW DOGS at Pinewood Studio Wales with director Raja Gosnell (MIRACLE ON 34th STREET, MRS DOUBTFIRE).  His credits include the Oscar nominated SHINE and the Vin Diesel starrer BABYLON A.D..  He will soon be working on the remake of THE CROW.  Check out Paul’s impressive CV here.

Huw Penallt Jones
Huw has served as Executive Producer on Marc Evans’ PATAGONIA and co-produced THE EDGE OF LOVE, starring Matthew Rhys and Keira Knightley.  As Producer, he is currently in post-production on two features –  DAMASCUS COVER with John Hurt, and INTERLUDE IN PRAGUE, starring James Purefoy and Samantha Barks.

Gareth Davies
Gareth is an experienced feature film Line Producer / Production Manager, credits include the BIFA nominated and BAFTA Cymru award winning film ’THE PASSING’, Craig Roberts directorial debut ‘JUST JIM’, ‘PANIC BUTTON’, ’THE CHAMBER’, ‘B&B’, ‘DON’T KNOCK TWICE’, and ‘WATCHER IN THE WOODS’. He also produced ’THE SLEEPING ROOM’, the first UK online equity crowdfunded film. Gareth works with many high profile UK and international producers in drawing up budgets, and trains in Movie Magic Scheduling and Budgeting for a number of training providers and Universities.

Jan Wilkins
Jan is the Founder of Creative Risk Solutions the only specialist Media Insurance Broker in Wales. Jan has over 30 years’ experience in the TV/Film insurance sector working with AON Pinewood  for many years responsible for the management of the S4CBroadcasters scheme prior to setting up Creative. Productions include; HINTERLAND, THE INDIAN DOCTOR, SUE PERKINS CITY OF JOY, RICHARD HAMMOND MIRACLES OF NATURE, MICHAEL SHEEN – FIRE UNDER THE CROSS, S4C drama’s BYW CELWYDD, ANITA, ALYS.

Natalie Jones – Creative Risk Solutions
Natalie is a key member of the media team providing advice and support on insurance arrangements for TV/Film commissions. She works with Production Managers from the placement of cover through to delivery. Natalie  joined the Creative team 7 years ago and has worked on many productions including; ROWND A ROWND ,GWAITH CARTEF, HINTERLAND, POSH PAWN, 35 DIWRNOD CYFRES, MY FIRST TATTOO.

When was  the course?
The course ran for 10 days, Monday to Friday, over 2 weeks, starting on November 21st 2016 and ending on December 2nd.
