New Job:      Mentor (Siop Un Stop – One Stop Shop)

Sgil Cymru is looking for a specialist Mentor to work on a new and exciting project.

Job Description:

· Working mainly under Sgil Cymru and across all partners.

· Being available to give advice and help to individuals, groups and companies that want information on how to come into the screen industries, and how to move forward or across within those industries.

· To be across all training courses and other opportunities available, including financing, in Wales.

· To work with the Project Manager to report back to the Managing Director of Sgil Cymru, the Management Board of Siop Un Stop- One Stop Shop and the BFI.

· The need, at times, to travel the length and breadth of Wales to meetings, workshops, and courses.

· The possibility of working flexibly, from home, or in our training centre at Great Point Seren Studios in Cardiff.

 

Essential Requirements

· Extensive experience of working within the screen industries.

· A broad understanding of how programmes are prepared, crewed, scheduled, shot, and the post-production process.

· A full understanding of the wide range of jobs in each department to include production crew, shooting crew, and post-production crew.

· An understanding of health and safety, wellbeing, safeguarding and union rules within the sector.

· Experience of working on programmes in Wales and an understanding of the sector.

· The ability to communicate effectively in Welsh and English.

· The job can be based in either north or south Wales, but the right person must be based in Wales.

· The ability and the confidence to talk to people about their careers – as individuals or in groups.

· The ability to organise and to be a brilliant communicator, with the ability to work effectively within a small but extremely busy team.

· The ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Workspace and Dropbox effectively and in an organised manner.

 

For the person with the right set of skills and experience, this job could be offered on a part-time or full-time basis and may be on freelance terms or as a member of Sgil Cymru staff on PAYE.  The salary will range between £35,000 and £40,000 p.a.  The successful candidate should be available to start at the end of August (date tbc) and the contract will run until the 31st of March 2026.
