The third and final course, of Sgil Cymru’s new Film training scheme was delivered this month.
8 new Location Managers took part in practical workshops on scouting and health and safety. They also attended talks from experienced Location Managers such as SPECTRE’s Finlay Bradbury, and Gareth Skelding, of leading Wales locations company – Location Solutions.
The trainees worked from a script, and scouted some potential locations locally. They also had the opportunity to visit the set of Hollywood film ‘SHOW DOGS’, to learn more about the Location Manager’s role on a multi-million dollar production.
On completing the course, here is what the trainees had to say:
“The course was fantastic, I learned a lot and feel more confident in being an Assistant Location Manager.”
“The course exceeded my expectations – a wonderful experience that finished too soon!”
“Really enjoyed the course, and felt it gave me a good foundation to work off.”
This programme is supported by Creative Skillset’s Film Skills Fund, with BFI’s Film Forever National Lottery funds. The next scheme is for crew looking to work as a 3rd AD, applications are open now and more information is here.
