This 5-week online course takes participants through the key skills, both soft and practical, involved in script development, and leaves them equipped with the script editor’s toolbox.
To apply, send your CV to help@sgilcymru.com by the 11th of May at 12.00.
Each week will be split between online delivery and script tasks to be undertaken at home where you will be required to read, consider, break down and annotate script pages or whole scripts. ‘Script’ here means either a short or feature length single film, a tv single drama, a tv series or web-based drama.
The course is aimed at professionals who work in related sectors but who are not currently working in script and story development in film or TV. Priority will be given to those living and/or working within the Cardiff Capital Region
The course is designed to consolidate and focus existing skills, to set out and teach key elements of developing a screenplay; to demystify an often-confusing sector, and to use a rigours workshop format to develop existing experience. You will learn the skills needed to collaborate in the writing and development of a screenplay.
Each week will involve:
-
6 hours of delivery by two industry experts with a combined working experience of over 50 years in film and TV development;
1 day studying towards an ILM level 2 Award: Developing yourself as an Effective Team Member;
Self-study in which participants will be required to read, consider, break down or annotate script pages or whole scripts.
All participants will receive a weekly £150 training allowance. If you have financial constraints or barriers to attending the academy, financial assistance may also be available (e.g. towards childcare, travel expenses)*.
