Congratulations to Sue Jeffries, Sgil Cymru’s Managing Director, for being chosen as a finalist in the VQ Trainer of the Year category at this year’s VQ Awards.
The Vocational Qualification (VQ) Awards in Wales are designed to reward individuals and organisations for their commitment, hard work, and achievements. The new VQ Trainer of the Year Award recognises individual trainers who have made a telling contribution to supporting learners in the workplace to achieve excellence whilst also constantly improving their own skills and knowledge.
Having been chosen as a finalist Sue has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to the learning experience of creative industries apprentices in her role as Sgil Cymru’s lead assessor. Sue oversees three different apprenticeship programmes that Sgil Cymru offer, in different areas of the creative industries, and works closely with a number of employers including BBC Cymru Wales, Golley Slater, ITV Cymru Wales and S4C to ensure that apprentices get the most out of their time on the scheme. As lead assessor, Sue also mentors four freelance assessors as they focus on developing the careers of the apprentices.
Sharing the category with Sue is Gwenno Jones from Portal Training and Tom Jones from Cardiff and Vale College. The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony in The Exchange Hotel, Cardiff Bay on Thursday 3rd of May.
