LEVEL 3 (CREATIVE & DIGITAL MEDIA)

Sgil Cymru’s first Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media started in July 2015.

As well as training with Sgil Cymru at Pinewood Studio Wales in Cardiff, the apprentices have and will be working in lots of different jobs – including camera, post-production, casting, art department, costume, production, graphic design and special effects.

Companies that have offered opportunities to apprentices include award-winning apprentice employers BBC Cymru Wales, ITV Cymru Wales, Cardiff Theatrical Services and Real SFX, as well as big industry names such as Sports Media ServicesFiction Factory and Orchard.

All the apprentices are paid an allowance by their employer, work on real productions and will complete the apprenticeship with both a qualification, a year’s worth of experience of working in the media as well as a bucket full of contacts which may prove useful for work in the future.

This is a Level 3 Apprenticeship, which is equivalent to A Level.  Anybody who is 16+ when they start can apply. Please note: our apprenticeship schemes are not aimed at graduates.

Don’t forget – it is possible to go to University or College after completing an Apprenticeship. However an Apprenticeship isn’t a summer job, it is a 12-month commitment.

This Apprenticeship programme is part financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.

This Apprenticeship has been made possible through Cardiff and Vale College Apprenticeships; the Lead Training Provider for the Quality Skills Alliance (QSA) Consortium. Cardiff and Vale College Apprenticeships have been awarded a contract of by the Welsh Government to deliver work-based learning programmes across Wales.
