Sgil Cymru welcomes 4 experienced domestic and commercial electricians to the Stepping Up programme.
Sgil Cymru’s Stepping Up programme is a rare opportunity for professionals already working in the industry to advance in their career, and also for those highly trained qualified specialists who want to move across to TV. The programme is tailored to the individual according to their needs, and each participant will undertake a placement or course lasting up to 10 weeks, receiving a training allowance for the entire period.
Following the industry-led need that was highlighted by Wales Screen/ Welsh Government Sgil Cymru have recruited 4 experienced domestic and commercial electricians to step up in their career by gaining experience as an Electrician in the TV industry.
Under the leadership and guidance of experienced sparks, our trainees will be attending workshops on industry kit familiarisation, set etiquette and health and safety on set. To prepare our trainees for the freelance world after the programme, they will be attending a CV media workshop where they will tailor their CV to the industry.
Following these workshops, they will spend a couple of weeks working on BBC Cymru Wales and Wolf Studios Wales productions. With their wealth of prior electrical experience and newly found skills, the trainees will start freelance careers in the industry alongside their domestic/ commercial electrical careers.
